Shamokin - William “Bill” Blaine Troxell, 94, died on Saturday, Jan. 9, at his home, the same house where he was born 94 years ago.
He was born, Oct. 2, 1926, a son of the late W. Blaine and Grace (Evans) Troxell. William was a graduate of Shamokin High School with the class of 1944. On Aug. 1, 1948 he married the former Margaret Logush who preceded him in death.
He was formerly employed as a pattern grader for the Shamokin Dress Company for over forty years.
Through most of his life, Bill was involved in church ministry. He loved the Lord and faithfully read his Bible and encouraged others to do so. He believed the words of Jesus in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Claiming Jesus as his Savior, he strived to live for Him.
Among his interests were reading, listening to music, watching sports on television, spending time with family and friends, and especially traveling to the Boston area to visit his daughter, friends and his “granddog,” Lilly. Bill especially loved Christmas, and enjoyed decorating his home and sharing it with others.
Bill is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Barry Wills of Sunbury; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Dawn Troxell of Ephrata; a granddaughter, Amy, and her husband, Tom; a granddaughter, Heather; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Grayson, Olivia, and Rowan. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Pat; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins. Many devoted friends were so beloved as to be considered family.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Troxell; his sister, Betsy Hilbush; and his brother, Frank Troxell.
