Shamokin Dam – Wilbur L. Reddinger Sr., 83, of Shamokin Dam, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Shamokin on June 28, 1940 he was the son of the late John and Reata (Filer) Reddinger. He graduated from Shamokin High School in 1958. He served in the United States Army.
On September 2, 1990, he married the former Cheryl Starr, who survives. Together they shared 33 years of marriage. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Selinsgrove.
Wilbur began his police career as an officer in Catawissa, PA, later became an officer for the City of Shamokin. He then was employed as the Chief County Detective, working along with District Attorney James J. Rosini. In 1980 Wilbur was appointed Shamokin’s District Justice until his retirement in 2000. Wilbur retired in 2016 as a Geisinger Medical Center Concierge.
In addition to his wife, Wilbur is survived by a son, Wilbur L. Reddinger Jr. of Wynnewood; a daughter, Jean Reddinger of Atlas; three grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, James Starr and his wife, Kathy of NH, and Robert Starr and his wife, Lisa of Lewisberry; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Jean Reddinger; a son, Mark Reddinger; two brothers, John ‘Jack’ Reddinger, and George Reddinger; two sisters, Sandra Reddinger, and Sharon James; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Shirley (Stamets) Starr; a sister-in-law, Carol Heintzelman and her husband, Russ; nephew, Russell Heintzelman, Jr. and his furry child, Nugget.
FUNERAL NOTICE
Wilbur L. Reddinger Sr., 83, of Shamokin Dam – Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dietmar Plajer, officiating at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Selinsgrove. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being cared for by Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, PA, 17872, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor.
