Shamokin – Theodore D. “Ted” Reed, 76, of 5392 Upper Road, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a seventeen-year battle with cancer.

Born in Coal Township on September 12, 1944 he was the son of the late George and Eva (Shinskie) Reed. He was a 1962 graduate of Coal Township High School.

On August 8, 1970 in St. Stephens Church, he married Carol Sapp, who survives.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and worked for Lindenmuth Lumber and the National Ticket Company. He was a life member of the East Cameron Township Fire Company and the Keystone Fish and Game Association. He loved his granddaughters, hunting rabbits with his beagles, and making sauerkraut each year for friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Theodore is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Reed of Kingston, and Eva Frederick and her husband, Cory of Slatington; two grandchildren, Hannah and Gracie Frederick; four siblings, Dorothy DelVecchio of Elysburg, June Vitacco of Selinsgrove, Bob Reed of Harrisburg, and Jack Reed of West Haven, Connecticut. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, John and Alma Sapp; and four sisters, Shirley Jane Madara, Nancy Higgins, Marion Grybowski, and Barbara Lukoskie.

The family would like to thank Dr. Khanna, Dr. H. Williams, Dr. J Woods and the GMC Hospice team for their excellent care.
