Coal Township – Richard J. Haines, 85, of 1542 W Montgomery Street, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 in his home.

Born in Wyandotte, MI, on January 19, 1935, he was the son of, Harvey Haines, who preceded him death a year after his birth. Richard was adopted by his grandparents Charles and Emma (Fox) Haines, who preceded him in death. He attended Coal Township School.

On June 16, 1956 in Shamokin, he married Janice Llewellyn, who preceded him in death. He worked as a pipe fitter of Merck. He was a member of Fairview Gun Club, West End Fire Company, and Independence Fire Company.

Richard is survived by two sons, David Haines and his wife, Tina of Kulpmont, and Richard Haines of Coal Township; two daughters, Lori Groody and her husband, Michael of Ashland, and Debra Mirack of Coal Township; six grandsons, Jason Mirack, Christopher Haines and his wife, Anna, Eric Haines and his fiancé, Naomi Njeri, Justin Haines, David Allison and his wife, Vanessa, and Joshua Allison; two granddaughters, Janelle Gemberling and her fiancé Mike Shuey, and Lindsey Haines and her fiancé Ryan Smalletts; two great grandsons, Luke Allison, Blake Allison; three brothers-in-law, Jack Llewellyn, Ronald Llewellyn and his wife, Dawn, and Barry Llewellyn and his wife, Jean; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Shultz, Sandra Domanski and her husband, John, and Sharon Llewellyn; his pet dog, Riley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, father, and grandparents, who raised him, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Haines; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Emily (Moody) Llewellyn; five brothers, Charles “Beav” Haines and his wife, Jenny, Edward Haines and his wife, Marge, Francis Haines and his wife, Betty, Harry Haines and his wife, Joan, and George Haines and his wife, Dorothy; three sisters, Irene Nairns and her husband, William, Emma Haines, and Mary Patrick and her husband, Clem; brother-in-law, Robert Shultz, Glenn Llewellyn, Jerry Llewellyn; sister-in-law, Eileen Derk and her husband, Dan, Audrey Huxta and her husband, Robert, and Vivian Llewellyn.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Richard J. Haines, 85, of 1542 W Montgomery Street, Coal Township – Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Joan Brown, officiating at Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery following the service.
