Paul Melvin Long

Shamokin - Paul Long, 91, of Shamokin passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Mount Carmel Senior Living.  It was a glorious day for Paul as he beheld his Savior face to face and was reunited with his daughters, Margaret and Sherran who were tragically taken from him in 1973.

Born in West Cameron on September 12, 1933 to the late Clarence and Helen (Strausser) Long. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Paul worked as a finish carpenter.

On March 28, 1953 in Shamokin he married his sweetheart, Margaret Bowers, who survives. Paul was a wonderful husband, father, provider and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.  He was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.

Paul is survived by and a sister, Anna Heitzelman. In addition to his parents, and his other siblings, Paul was preceded in death by his two daughters, Margaret Long, and Sherran Long.  After the horrific deaths of his two daughters in 1973, he and his wife were sustained by their faith in Jesus Christ and their hope of the resurrection yet to come.  Their daughters loved Jesus. Paul and his wife held fast to Jesus’ words when he said, “I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

Paul Long, 91, of Mount Carmel Senior Living – Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Daniel Renno, officiating, at Farrow-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, PA, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Burial will be held following the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Coal Township.
