Mary L (Ginter) Startzel

Coal Township – Mary L. Startzel, 83, formerly of 50 N 3rd Street, Lewisburg, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Riverwoods Nursing Home in Lewisburg.

Born in Shamokin on July 19, 1937 she was the daughter of the late John and Annetta (Bickert) Ginter. She attended Shamokin Area Schools.

On May 18, 1963 in Shamokin she married Robert L. Startzel, who preceded her in death in 2008

Mary is survived by a daughter, Annette Haines and her husband, Michael of Lewisburg; a grandson, Philip Swank and his wife, Jessica of Lewisburg; a granddaughter, Danielle Swank of Lewisburg; a sister, Elsie Lytle of Shamokin; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Schlegal of Danville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Donald and Ruth Startzel; a great granddaughter, Emma Swank; three sisters, Anna Mae “Sissy” Sherman and her husband, John, Catherine “Bricky” Martin and her husband, William, and Voila Jones and her husband Thomas; six brothers, Addison Schlegal and his wife, Louise, John Schlegal, Frances “Windy” Schlegal and his wife, Betty, John Edward “Teddy” Ginter and his wife, Kathryn, Thomas “Tommy” Ginter and his wife, Erma, and Robert “Toobsey” Ginter and his wife, Shirley; and one brother-in-law, Robert Lytle.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Mary L. Startzel, 83, Riverwoods – Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor David Alderson, officiating at Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, PA, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.
