Shamokin – Marlin W. “Butch” Schickley, 81, 567 N First Street, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Marlin was born in Shamokin on September 17, 1939 to the late James and Marcella (Shroyer) Schickley. He graduated from Shamokin Area High School in 1959.

In 1960 he married Diane Dando who preceded him in death. He worked at Catawissa Lumber. He was a member of the West End Fire Company.

Butch coached the Bears midgett football for years. He was a lifelong Shamokin Indians football fan as well as the Philadelphia Eagles. He also enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful crafts. He was an avid camper for many years.

Marlin is survived by his son-in-law, Richard H. “Rick” Haines of Coal Township; a granddaughter, Lindsey Haines and her fiancé Ryan Smallets of Shamokin; a grandson, Christopher Haines and his wife, Anna of Elysburg; two brothers, Clarence “Chubb” Schickley and Robert Schickley; and many nieces, and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Marlin was preceded in death by two daughters, Diane Haines and Patricia Clark; and two brothers, James “Dee” Schickley and his wife, Connie, and George “Herc” Schickley.
