Shamokin – Marilyn G. Derk, 74, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Mountain View Manor, Coal Township.
Born in Shamokin on February 8, 1949 to the late Franklin and Lois (Hagan) Clutcher. She graduated from Shamokin High School in 1966.
On July 23, 1966 in Shamokin, she married, George Derk, who survives. Together they shared 57 years of marriage. Marilyn worked as a Physical Therapy Coordinator at a nursing facility before retiring. She served on the Northumberland County Board of Assistance.
Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved music, camping, cardinals, George’s red truck, and Halloween. She loved her cat, Prince, and most of all spending time with her family.
She was a lifelong resident of Shamokin and a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She volunteered as a poll worker for Northumberland County elections. She was one of the first women to ever be a softball umpire.
In addition to her husband, Marilyn is survived by a daughter, Amber Beisswanger and her husband, Kris of Wernersville; three granddaughters, Sandra Pearson and her husband, Rodney of VA, Laken Derk of Shamokin; and Chelsea Delorso and her husband, Mike of Mifflinburg; great grandson, Xavier Pearson; great granddaughter, Mira Delorso; three brothers, Bruce Clutcher and his wife, Amy of Palmyra, John Clutcher and his wife, Connie of Palmyra, and Jeffrey Clutcher and his wife, Kathy of Elysburg; sister, Claire Varney and her husband, Larry of Elysburg; two brothers-in-law, Carl Derk and his wife, Angela of West Cameron, and David Derk and his wife, Beth of Coal Township; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her cat, Prince. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by a son, Allen Derk; granddaughter, Misty Derk; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Nancy (Kramer) Derk.

Marilyn G. Derk, 74, Shamokin – Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 11:00 am with Pastor Sarah Hershberger, officiating at Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Viewing will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service.
