Linda R. (Herb) Romanoski

September 9, 1948 — November 27, 2024

Coal Township

Coal Township – Linda R. Romanoski, 76, of Montgomery Street, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Shamokin on September 9, 1948 to the late Paul and Helen (Heiser) Herb. On July 18,1968 in Coal Township, she married, Bernie Romanoski Jr, who survives.

Linda’s passions included lunches with her “Lou” church girlfriends, unending scrabble games, caring for her entourage of canine accomplices and warming up to a good literary piece of work.

She came from a music family and chose the violin as her instrument of choice. She excelled at both Coal Township and Shamokin High School.

A devoted vacationer, she looked forward to family treks to the shore for beach time. She also relished trips taken with her mother to Israel, Europe, and Hawaii.

Linda’s caring nature led her to pursue a nursing career and was a graduate of the Geisinger School of Nursing. She is proud to have trained under Dr. Henry Hood who she thought had a great sense of humor, gleefully singing through surgeries. Her career included employment at Shamokin State General Hospital and numerous facilities throughout the area.

Love of God and church involvement were paramount in her life. She was a life-long member of St. John’s United Methodist Church on Arch St. Her many roles included yearly bible study and teacher of bible school, church director, choir, summer bible camp, food preparer, Christmas program roles and substitute pastoral duties.

“Grammy Rae” loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild and loved time spent with them more than anything.

She is where she couldn’t wait to be. The struggle is over. Joyous times ahead.

In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by a daughter, Deborah Dascani and her husband, Samuel of Coal Township; a son, Michael Romanoski and his wife, Shaunna of Trevorton; a granddaughter, Abby Holobovich and her husband, Anthony of Coal Township; two grandsons, Madox Romanoski of Trevorton, and Beckett Chesney of Trevorton; a great granddaughter, Fiona Holobovich; two sisters, Danee Diorio of Coal Township, and Patricia Baczkowski, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, David Romanoski and his wife, Marylee of Elysburg; a sister-in-law, Diane Miller and her husband, Kevin of Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by two brothers, Jamie Herb, and Tom Herb; a sister, Nancy Heitzman and her husband, Dan; and two brother-in-laws, Jan Diorio, and Robert Baczkowski.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church.
