Shamokin - Leora E. Novotny, 73, of 612 N 2nd Street, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at her residence.
Born in Shamokin on May 29, 1948 to the late William and Norma (Crawford) Brestel. She graduated from Trevorton High School in 1966. She was a member of the Redmen Pocahontas, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Always enjoyed helping the community whether it be benefits, bake sales, or block parties. She enjoyed reading, outings with her daughters and friends, and going to the movies. Her favorite hobbies were shooting pool and playing darts.
Leora is survived by three daughters, Joann Reeser and her husband, Michael of Shamokin, Jaime Neihart of Shamokin, and Leann Yoder of Shamokin; two granddaughters, Stephany Zimmerman, and Avery Reeser, as well as many other grandchildren; a great grandson, Aiden Lopez; a sister, Norma Fuller and her husband, George of Kulpmont; a brother, James Brestel and his wife, Betty of Coal Township; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jordan Reeser.
FUNERAL NOTICE
Leora E. Novotny, 73, of 612 N 2nd Street, Shamokin – Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 7:00 pm with Reverend Joan Brown, officiating at Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
