Judith Ann Taylor

SHAMOKIN – Judith Ann Taylor, 65, of 611 East Commerce Street passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

Born in Shamokin on December 6, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Sarah (Kahney) Taylor.  She graduated in 1975, from Shamokin Area High School.

Judy had a boisterous personality.  It was common on independence street to hear her calling a hello to folks from the other side of the street followed by her booming laugh.  She loved to affectionately trade insults with friends and family and her good-natured jabs will really be missed.

Judy had close nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends who meant the world to her.  She made the time to call them, spend time with them, give them special cards and even gifts on their special days and she always made sure they knew how important they were to her.

Judy was a faithful daughter. Having lost her father, Bob, early in life she was a steadfast support for her mother, Sarah Taylor.  In her mother’s later years, Judy was chauffer, caretaker and friend.

All who knew Judy knew that she was an extraordinary mother to Sean. His happiness and well-being were the most important things in her world.  Sean faced numerous and serious health issues his entire life but Judy was always there to help him face those issues and made all the difference in the world to him.  His loss was devastating to Judy but she was determined to preserve his memory and move forward and now they will rest in peace together.

Judy graduated from Shamokin High School in 1975 and joined the military, where she proudly served her country including serving a tour of duty in Iraq. Retiring after 25 years as a sergeant.  Judy was always a hard worker both in Shamokin as the city’s meter maid and in the military as a radio operator.  Her patriotism extended past her military service and she proudly flew our flag throughout the year.  Judy was a passionate Penn State Football fan – loyal and enthusiastic about her Nittany Lions.

As Judy’s health failed, her cousin Kathy was her main support as she became less mobile.  Kathy was devoted to her through her hospitalization and time in skilled nursing.

Judith is survived by two brothers, David Taylor of Shamokin and Howard Taylor and his wife Beth of Shamokin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, Judith is preceded in death by a son, Sean Taylor and a sister, Harriet Thielman.

JUDITH ANN TAYLOR, 65, OF 611 East Commerce Street, Shamokin – Funeral Visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2022, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, at Farrow – C. J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor.  Graveside services will follow at Northumberland Memorial Park, 2956 PA-61, Sunbury, with Pastor Jean Eckrod, officiating.
