COAL TOWNSHIP - Jeffrey Kitchin, 74, of 1506 West Mulberry Street, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, where he was undergoing rehab since December 28, 2023.

He was born in Shamokin, April 5, 1949, the son of the late Woods and Marcella (Martz) Kitchin.

Jeffrey was a 1967 graduate of Shamokin Area High School. On August 12, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Lucille Jeremiah in her back yard. The garden wedding was officiated by Reverend George Rawding.

A welder by trade, Jeffrey spent most of his career welding and maintaining heavy duty strip-mining equipment for various mining companies.

A solitary sort was he and much of his time was spend in his basement pursuing hobbies, projects, and just “tinkering around.”

In his younger years he had numerous hobbies including fishing, long walks in nature, jogging, weightlifting, and archery where Jeffrey made most of his bows and arrows largely from scratch. For many years he was very actively involved in raising and flying pigeons. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs and cats. He as an avid reader and enjoyed crime shows on television and playing chess.

Jeffrey was of the protestant faith.

In addition to his wife, Jeffrey is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Kitchin; two grandsons, Patrick Shinske and Michael Shinske; three great grandsons, Hadlee Shinske, Ridge Shinske and Mikey Shinske, Jr.; two sisters Ruthann Kitchin of Shamokin and Christine (Kitchin) Backes and husband James, Coal Township; two beloved dogs Rocky and Shizoo; and nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, Jeffrey is preceded in death by a son Jeffrey James Kitchin.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Jeffrey Kitchin, 74, Coal Township – Funeral Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are being cared for by the Farrow-C. J.
