Jeanne M (Malick) Shutt

ELYSBURG - Jeanne Shutt, passed away September 9, 2020 buried September 15, 2020 surrounded by granddaughter and loved ones.

Daughter of Robert E and Gertrude L Malick born in Shamokin on January 2, 1927.

Graduate of Shamokin High School Class of 1944 for whom she serves as treasurer.

Attended Penn State following High School for 2 years.

Then Married William L Shutt, United States Navy, on April 14, 1946, with whom she celebrated their 51st anniversary before Bill’s death on December 1, 1997.

Graduated from Bloomsburg University, 1963, with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary education.

Teacher with Shamokin Area School District for 26 years, spending her entire career in the 4th grade position.

Charter member of the Ralpho Township Public Library and served as a board member for many years.

Spent early years living in Shamokin resided in Elysburg since 1952.

Enjoyed doing needlework, knitting, crocheting, playing bridge, was an avid reader, Phillies fan and enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Member of Elysburg United Methodist Church, Penna School Employees Retirement System, Northumberland County retired teachers, Shamokin area retired teachers, member of the 24 Club (Bridge) for many years. Survivors: a son, Richard and daughter-in-law, Jennifer of Litiz PA. Granddaughter, Jennifer Shutt Marks and her husband, Christopher, of Northumberland, PA, and 2 great grandchildren Brooklyn and Nicholas Marks. Four nieces, Linda Malick of Fl, Debbie Vogal of FL, Leslie Lavie of MT, and Stephanie Lavie of CA and a nephew. Preceded in death by brother, Richard C Malick, sister, Miriam “Mitzie” Brennan.
