Shamokin – Helen Lois Orner, 84, of 201 W Mulberry Street, Apt 1108, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
Born in Shamokin on March 8, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Harry Hovenstine and Mary Snyder. She finished school in 11th grade.
On June 9, 1955 in Shamokin she married John Russel Orner who preceded her in death on March 8, 2001. She was a member of God’s Missionary Church.
Helen enjoyed her Grand-Children, Great Grand-Children, spending time with her family. She also enjoyed doing her cross-word puzzles, word search books, she was an active church member, quilting, cleaning, activities, and being helpful with anything that needed done.
Helen is survived by five children, Pam Arney and her husband, Don of Mesquite, NV, Lorrie Young of Dornsife, Karen Peifer and her husband, Keith Peifer Sr. of Coal Township, Greg Orner of Shamokin, and Tom Orner of Coal Township; eleven grandchildren, Tony Bogutskie, John Young Jr., Brenda Alleman, Matthew Young and his companion, Chrissy, Keith Peifer Jr and his wife, Tonya, Heather Potteiger and her husband, Chad, Steven Orner, Amy Orner, Beth Orner, Rex Hepner Jr and his wife, Desiree, and Christina Hepner; twenty-one great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Polan and her husband, Bill, Dorothy Zerbe, and Doris Brown; and a brother, Thomas Hovenstine. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by three children, Robin Hepner, John Orner Jr., and Randy Orner; three sisters, Martha Laylon, Ruth Hoffman, and Catherine Hovenstine; and six brothers, Paul Hovenstine, Samuel Hovenstine, David Hovenstine, Daniel Hovenstine, Harry Hovenstine, and James Hovenstine.
FUNERAL NOTICE
Helen Lois Orner, 84, of 201 W Mulberry Street, Apt 1108, Shamokin – Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 7 PM with Pastor Fritz, officiating at God’s Missionary Church, 768 Bear Valley Ave, Shamokin, PA 17872.
