Shamokin – Gary W. Hendricks, 71, of 3580 Upper Road, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville as a result of COVID-19.
Born in Norristown, PA, on March 6, 1949, he was the son of the late William and Norma (Orth) Hendricks. He graduated Ashland High School in 1967. He served in the United States Army from 1967-1969 in Vietnam as an intelligence analyst and he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze service stars, and republic of Vietnam Campaign.
On April 24, 1971 in Tucson, Arizona he married Diane Collier, who survives. He worked for 20 years at the ASARCO copper mine before relocating to Pennsylvania with his family. He was a member at First Presbyterian where he served as a Deacon. An avid model railroader, bowler, and history buff for many years, he was a quiet and gentle man who loved his wife and family above all else. He was a true romantic.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by two daughters, Hannah Lewis of Shamokin and Beverly Hendricks of Shamokin; two grandsons, Charles Hendricks, and Tristan Hendricks; two granddaughters, Allyssa Stark, and Megan Lewis; a great grandson, Koda Olds; a great granddaughter, Layla Olds; two sisters, Rebekah Hendricks, and Rachel Hendricks; a brother-in-law, Jim Collier and his wife, Carol; four sisters-in-law, Dale Gustitus and her husband, Frank, Darlene Hill and her husband, Richard, Deborah Seifried and her husband, Thomas, and Denise Collier; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joseph Calvin Collier; and father and mother-in-law, Hilbert and Wilma (Long) Collier.

Gary W. Hendricks, 71, of 3580 Upper Road, Shamokin – Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 11:00 am with Reverend Richard Kellett, at Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Viewing will be held prior the service from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Burial will be held following the service at St. Pauls Cemetery in Gowen City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans of America, Payable to: DAV – Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
