Edith (Taylor) Wolf

Edith Taylor Wolf, passed away the first of July, 2020 in the ICU unit at Geisinger Hospital.

She was born in Shamokin, June 5th, 1932. She was the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Evans) Taylor. She graduated from Coal Township HS with Honors. She attended Wilkes College as an organ and piano major. She was a lifetime member of the American Guild of Organists. She was on the faculty of Shelton College, N.J. where she taught organ, piano, and Music History. She married Bernd Richard Wolf, in Wilkes Barre, PA on May 9, 1969. They lived in Arlington, VA where Bernd served out his remaining time of obligation to the Marine Corps. In 1970 they moved back to the area and settled in Danville where Edith lived for fifty years. In those fifty years Edith directed Adult and youth choirs at Grove Church, Shilo, and Trinity Methodist for twenty years and finished her career at All Saints Episcopal Church with another twenty years. She never stopped talking about her dedicated piano students, of which there were legions. She was a member of the Wyoming Valley Oratorio Society under the direction of Clifford Balshaw under whom she studied organ and piano for more than fifty years. She will be missed by countless souls she managed to touch!

Edith was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by a brother Wayne, and sister, Betty. Surviving are her sister Arlene, brother Robert and sister Marion.

Edith is also survived by her husband of fifty one years, a daughter Noel, two grandchildren, Brittany and Colby, and two greatgrandchildren, Eira and Jarick. They all live in the Carlisle area.
