Donna L. (Derk) Varano

Mount Carmel – Donna L. Varano, 86, of 41 S. Walnut Street, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Shamokin on May 24, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Rothermel) Derk. She graduated from Coal Township High School.

On September 8, 1967 in Winchester, Virginia she married Albert Varano, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Mountainside Assembly of God.

Donna is survived by two daughters, Kathy Skjoldal and her husband, Kenneth of Dover, and Tammy Malafarina and her husband, Roy of Mount Carmel; a son, Blyler Nahodil of Kulpmont; five grandsons, Bryan Nahodil and his wife, Debra, Brad Nahodil, Kevin Skjoldal and his wife, Michelle, Matthew Skjoldal and his wife, Melissa, and Shawn Skjoldal and his wife, Amy; a granddaughter, Danielle Nahodil; four great grandsons, Quintin Nahodil, Ian Skjoldal, Grant Skjoldal, and Zachary Conway; four great granddaughters, Annika Skjoldal, Clara Skjoldal, Aubrey Skjoldal, and Everly Skjoldal; many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins; and her beloved lifetime friend, Wanda. In addition to her husband and parents, Donna is preceded in death by a daughter, Darla Varano (Infant), and a sister, Dolores Poticher and her husband, Enos.
