Coal Township, PA – Alice Bridget (Ghezzi) Leffler, 77, of 2215 Park Road, passed away peacefully with her family on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
Born in Shamokin, PA on October 13, 1946 to the late Albert and Monica (Reck) Ghezzi, Alice was the third of eight children. She attended St Joseph’s Elementary School and graduated from of Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1964. She graduated from Bloomsburg State College in 1967 with a degree in Education and accepted a teaching position at Shamokin High School teaching French and English.
On June 1, 1968, at St. Edwards Church in Shamokin, she married, Robert A. A. Leffler. Over the next ten years they traveled the world, living in California, Oklahoma, Saudia Arabia and Middletown, PA, before moving back to Shamokin in 1977 to start the B&L Car Dealerships.
In 1984, Alice got her teaching certificate for Math from Susquehanna University, but instead of teaching she went to work at the family business and for the next 35 years she rose to become the chief operating officer for the four dealerships.
During her years in Shamokin she was a member of the AAUW, West Catholic Basketball boosters during their 1994 Diocesan Championship Season and was known for her lively Penn State tailgates that included her pizza burgers, sausage hoagies and Nash’s grilled sticky buns.
In addition to her husband, Alice is survived by two sons, Robert Leffler and his wife, Jennifer of Elysburg, and Andy Leffler of Rutherford, NJ; two daughters, Lara Leffler Thomas of Manhattan, NY, and Anjinette Jurewicz and her husband, David of Shamokin; three grandsons, Gabriel Leffler, Aaron Leffler, and Andrew Leffler; a granddaughter, Lucy Leffler; a brother, Albert Ghezzi and his wife, Patty Palmer of OK; four sisters, Marie Gaydon of Muncy, Catherine Ghezzi of Bala Cynwyd, Jean Barvitski and her husband, Frank of Sunbury, and Cecilia Fink of Camp Hill; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Kujan of TX, and Malcom Farrow IV of Shamokin. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Jack and Lorraine Lamey; a daughter-in-law, Ashley Nahodil; two sisters, Ursula Kujan, and Adeline Farrow; and two brothers-in-law, Lew Gaydon, and Robert Fink.

Alice B. Leffler, 77, of 2215 Park Road, Coal Township, PA – Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 10:00 am with Father Theodore, officiating at Our Lady of Hope Church. Viewing will be held Monday evening, June 10, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Farrow-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, PA, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor.
