Alen E. Straub Sr.

Shamokin – Alen E. Straub Sr, 91, of 518 Bear Valley Ave, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Shamokin on July 17, 1933 to the late Rufus and Marie (Mowery) Straub. He attended Coal Township Schools. He worked as a carpenter.

On November 18, 1952 in the Lutheran Church in Shamokin, he married, Patricia A. Crist, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Trevorton United Methodist Church, the Nimrod Gun Club of Gowen City, Fairview Gun Club of Coal Township, and Keystone Rod and Gun of Irish Valley.

Alen is survived by four sons, David E. Straub of Shamokin, Alen E. Straub, Jr. of Shamokin, Michael E. Straub of Trevorton, and Daniel E. Straub and his wife, Kim of Shamokin; daughter-in-law, Mary Straub; Son-in-law, James Kaskie; many grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Judy Crist; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, Alen was preceded in death by two daughters, Penny Kaskie, and Sandy Hornburger and her husband, Brian; three sisters, Doreen Heim, Carolyn Feese and her husband, Donald, and Doris Stevens.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Alen E. Straub Sr, 91, of 518 Bear Valley Ave, Shamokin – Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024, with Pastor Beverly Petrovich, officiating at Trevorton United Methodist Church, 547 W Shamokin St, Trevorton, PA 17881. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Coal Township.
